To say it’s been an amazing time for Juke Kartel would be something of an understatement! Lead vocalist Toby Rand came oh-so close to taking out the Rock Star Supernova series in September 2006 and it’s been non-stop ever since.
The Juke Kartel boys high-tailed it from Melbourne to Los Angeles where they worked in the studio with producer Mark Weinberg recording their eagerly awaited debut album.
They’ve signed to major international management company Sanctuary, who are currently negotiating with several record companies to ink Juke Kartel’s first label deal. And they found some time to play some shows at LA’s famed Viper Room as showcase gigs to a great response.
After a short break back home in Australia, they returned to the US and Canada to deadline the Fall 2006 Chemical Dreaming Tour with support acts Whitestarr, Driveblind, and Gasoline Heart. In early 2007 they hit the road again in support of Rockstar Superova and The Panic Channel, playing arenas across the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Before Rock Star Supernova came along, JUKE KARTEL were just beginning to make serious waves in their hometown of Melbourne. No gimmicks. No quirks. Just a five-piece band of killer musicianship wanting to bleed rock, and a burning ambition to write and perform songs with great melodies, catchy guitar riffs and energy. This is the motor that drives Juke Kartel. Its always about the songs.
A few career highlights included:
JUKE KARTEL Main support for Nickelback's "All the right reasons tour".. sharing the stage with one of the world's biggest rock bands.. playing to a full house at Rod Laver Arena - April 2006
JUKE KARTEL Winners of Cokes Live 05 compilation CD, with the track Firesign featured side by side with some of Oz premier artists including Dallas Crane, Jebediah and Magic Dirt.
JUKE KARTEL Part of the TASTE OF CHAOS Arena shows that swept through OZ in October 05, supporting The Used, Story of the Year and Killswitch Engage to name but a few.
JUKE KARTEL Five tracks, featured on three Eastern Surf Film DVDs. Heavy rock tracks Sunday Nights and the omnipresent Intra have been regular additions to Eastern Film soundtracks, including the video for Sunday Nights which was shot on location at the MCG.
Live, the band are a powerhouse. There is nothing like seeing five musicians giving it their all on stage. Juke Kartel come on all cylinders firing; you can expect nothing but pure energy. As a wise man once said, play each night like it is your last. That is exactly what they do.
One extreme to the next, it is a process constantly producing new challenges. The first track can take each P.A speaker to the limit and the next will have you tapping your feet and singing along. Juke Kartel are a band that write and perform songs that they enjoy. "Trend" is a dirty word at JK base camp.
Quite simply, they fucking rock. |
